Embrace the nerd

Hi, my name is Sara, and I’m a book nerd.

No, this is not a 12 step program. There is no reason to rehabilitate ourselves because there is nothing wrong with being a book nerd. Today I embrace my nerdiness.

Why am I a book nerd?  Well, I would gladly and unashamedly wear any of these book t-shirts.  Or these.

Also, if a fictional friend dies or gets hurt, I will cry.  I can’t help myself, but it’s ok, I am a book nerd.

I'm also a book junkie. If I don't get a reading fix I go a little crazy. But maybe you should forget that. I said this wasn't an intervention. I don't need to change. No it's not a problem. I could quit if I wanted.  Leave me alone.

How are you a book nerd?

  1. Yay! I'm a total book nerd too. I need my daily fix at the end of the day or I cannot sleep.

  2. I love to read, but find less and less time to do it.
Kindle has helped, but not the same as an actual book in my hands.
FYI I would definitely wear the out of print T-shirts...but for men

  3. Love this, Sara! I'm book nerdy because I buy hardcovers of books I love AFTER I've read them from the library. I do reread them, some many times, and enjoy looking at them in my book cabinet.

    1. I do this too. I generally like to read a book first and I only buy the ones I know I want to be friends with for a very long time.

  6. Oh, let me count the ways... I would rather read than sleep. I will eat ramen noodles for a week if it means I can get that new release. I decorate my home with my TBR pile. My default gift is a book or bookstore GC (what, you mean not everyone loves to read as much as I do? Strange...) The list really goes on and on... :)

    1. When I first discovered Outlander I stopped eating. I lost five pounds the first week I was reading them. Who had time for food?

  7. Add me to your growing list of book nerds, Sara. I not only read every spare moment I get, I decorate my home with picture books appropriate for each season. Books are cool; therefore, book nerds are cool. ^_^

    1. I've always wanted to be able to hand quotes from my favorite books all around my library (when I have one someday, sigh) Picture books would also be awesome!

  8. Yep, I'm definitely a book nerd. (And several other kinds of nerd, too.) Always have been, and as long as my vision holds out, always hope to be one.

  9. Yeah, I must admit, I am. But I figure there are way worse things to be. Good to know there are other nice writers among the book nerd bunch. :)

  13. Well, I have a corner-to-corner book shelf to my left (as I type this) loaded with books I've collected in the last five years. Does that qualify for book nerdom? :)

    1. Corner to corner as in a full wall from one side of the room to the other? I think that qualifies.

  14. Oh my gosh... loving those t-shirts! And I *want* to be a book nerd again. I'm sort of having a hard time reading right now... but I've been a book nerd and am sure I'll be one again soon :)

  15. Hi Sara,

My name is Gary and I'm just a nerd. I saw no t-shirt in relation to my fan club. Where is the "IWSG" aka "I Was Seeking Gary", t-shirt? I'm devastated! :)

  16. Never, ever quite books.

Ok, I may just have to buy one of those shirts. Tehehe

Uh, my book nerdness comes in a couple ways... I used to go on what I call book walk-a-thons (I should do that again before the weather turns ugly) or I read while I exercise or I always have an audio book playing while I'm driving. Plus, I cry and laugh and gasp while reading. Can't get enough of em.

  17. I love books. Always have, always will.
When I was little, no prize for guessing what my Christmas/birthday present would be...? At least I made it easy for those who bought me gifts... they never had to scratch their heads, wondering what on earth to get me...
I'd rather read, than watch TV...
