More linkage

Hey everyone, hope your weeks are starting out well.  I have a few links for you.  They were so great I couldn't wait anymore to share them.

First, here is Shannon Messenger talking about feeling like a fraud as a writer. This is a great post if you're feeling down because it will perk you right back up.

Sara Walker has a post on acknowledgments and dedication pages, the how, the why, the what.

This one was a fun post about the favorite writing tools of 20 famous actors.

Then there are two from Joanna Bourne.  Here is a post on why the first scene should be a ghost. Here is a great post detailing what to do when you finish your MS.

I'm going to buckle down and try to get some massive revisions done this week, not to mention a synopsis. Eeep.  What are you working on this week?

  3. Great links, thank you! I'm still working on character backgrounds/world building and have started on a "rough chapter", though not sure where I'm going to put it.

Best of luck with your revisions and hang in there :)

    1. Ooo, that first chapter is always fun. It's good to start seeing how things work together, even if it is rough.

  4. Thanks for the links. I've never read a post on dedication pages, not that I'm at that point, but I hope to be one day.

It's another week of revising for me as well. Hopefully, the last one.

    1. I'll admit I've started writing a few dedication and acknowledgment pages. Just for fun. Someday I hope to have a use for them.

      Good luck with the revisions.

  6. Good links you picked. :-)

I'll mainly be rewriting. Trying to finish a draft by the end of the month.

  7. Best on getting your revisions done. I have a lull until my MS comes back from my editor. I'm working on something new while waiting... then it's crunch time again.

  8. Thanks for the linkage! Going to check them all out. :) I'm just starting revisions. Good luck with yours!

  9. What? No link to "Here is what to do when you're sick of your story, and oh yeah, it has a deadline." You're supposed to be solving all my problems. :P

  10. Great bunch of links, thanks. I liked the writing tools one because I like snippets like that - hard to imagine writing a whole book with a pen or even typewriter, but that's all you would have known back then. This week, I'm going to knuckle down to finishing my novella, after a patchy summer.

  13. Thank for the links. I'm concentrating on my novel and preparing to change one character's story arc, a mix of revision and new writing which is fun.

  15. Excellent links--who hasn't felt like a fraud at one point or another?

Good luck with your revisions and synopsis! Classes started for me today, so the day job is taking up a lot more of my time. My challenge for the week is to keep writing, even though I won't be able to work as much as I'd like.

  16. Great links, Sara! Good luck with your synopsis. I've got to keep typing... trying to get all of Santiago's story typed up before NaNo comes!

  17. Best of luck with your synopsis! Ugh. I hate doing those, but they're a necessary evil.

    1. Necessary is right. It's an important skill. Maybe one day I'll learn it.

  18. Yikes! Good luck with the synopsis and revisions. I really despise writing a synopsis. I mean, giving away all your novel's secrets in a page or two? That's like, cheating, right?

I'll be working on guest post prep this week. *deep breath* This publishing thing is happening. *gulp*

  23. Hi S.P.,

I must check out your links. I really don't understand how anybody could consider themselves a "fraud" as a writer. I'm sure it's an upbeat message on that link. I think if you write, you're a writer. Simple as.

    Thanks for this.

    Gary :)
