Miscellaneous Ramblings.

I'm new to this whole A-Z thing so I was wondering how do you plan all your posts for April and still have something to post in March?  I just don't have much to say since I'm saving it all for April.

Work on my WIP has been sporadic over the last several months as I've rewritten the beginning and done some tweaking and editing on the book I'm querying.  Plus querying takes up time.  So, while I've been putting words down it hasn't been an avalanche.  Yesterday I decided to read over the whole MS as it stands just to try to get back into the story and voice and I have to say, I'm loving it.   I'm falling in love with my character and MS all over again.

How's your WIP coming?

P.S. I'm sure many of you have noticed I've been emailing comment responses.  If you aren't receiving them it's because I don't have your email attached to your comments so I'm leaving those responses in the comment section.  If you're receiving the emails and you want to stop getting them let me know and I'll be happy to oblige.

  1. Hi Sara,
My WIP is slow and steady, heading down the back side with all those holes to fill and sense to make from all the red herrings I liberally sprinkled through-out the first blasted half of the book. (Bah. Fantasy!) I think I'm going to have to pass on the A-Z, though I had a fabulous theme and all. I just know it would consume me and send my WIP into a tail-spin. I just can't let that happen. Not to mention my limited time with my children and all. I get so sucked into my blog, and commenting on others...I have to email Alex and tell him I'm out.
    Sigh.
But the NOVEL, Jill. That's what we're working for right?!
    Mais certainment.

    1. Children and family definitely come first. WIP before A-Z too. We are working for the novel. Hope you get all those holes filled

    Unparalleled feeling.

  3. I'm passing on the A-Z as well. I figure there are more than enough of them to read in bloggyland and I'll save my writing efforts for other projects.

Although I don't have a WIP going, I do have several freelance projects in the work that desperately need my creative attention. All the best to you in April!

    1. Writing is writing and freelance work is a good thing. Good luck with the words and you're right about A-Z. There's plenty to fill the blogosphere.

  4. Good luck with your querying!
I haven't worked on my wip in a week and feel horribly guilty.
As for A-Z, i think it helps that I have a theme... So items that don't fit the theme get blogged about in March :-)

  5. The A-Z is too much for me. Cheers to your MS!! Woot woot! My latest MS is coming along, rather turtle-like, but moving.

  6. I see a few pre-writing their posts, but since I mainly blog for a writing exercise, I plan on doing mine each day. I have done a little bit of prep, though...picking out a theme, what I'm doing each day, as well as started grabbing some pics for each post.

We'll see how it goes :)

    1. I just can't spend that amount of time. The kiddos won't let me so trying to do months worth isn't working so well. Ah well, it was an experiment and we'll decide at the end of April if it was worth it.

  7. For A-Z, I'm going to create a story one sentence per day using audience input. So no planning needed! Hey, nothing new there...;)

Great that you're in love with your WIP! I've recently started edits and I'm in "like", it's better than I thought anyway.

  8. I have a theme, definitely helps a scatter brained person like myself. Awesome that you're falling for your ms all over again, great feeling.

  9. I agree that querying is time-consuming, Sara. I equate it to having a parttime job. I'm wip'ing slowing this spring break week. :)

  10. I'm skipping the A-Z this year. It was fun last year, but it took way more time than I'm willing to put into it right now. The "real" writing has to take priority over the hop this year. Matter of fact, I'm probably going to take April off altogether.

The ONLY way I managed to make it through the A-Z last year was by having all of the posts written before April even started. No time to do that this year. Maybe next year. Good luck! You'll have fun with it.

  12. My WIP is coming along very very slowly. We're putting our house back on the market next week and so I'm organizing and rearranging and cleaning. I just told my DH this morning that I've got to fit writing time back into my day. He agrees. Course, he's always seeing dollar bills, foolish man. Have fun on A-Z. I'll be following along.

  13. I have no plan. Got too much on my plate already to hit the A to Z, but I am planning on it. One of these years. Until then, back to the WiP. :)

  14. It is comforting (and reassuring) to find that you still like your characters and story after an absence. That's a very good sign.

Regarding A-Z... I'm still on the fence trying to decide. I'll need to decide by early next week at the latest though.

  15. I'm skipping on the A-Z. I just don't have time to blog every day. I like my twice a week schedule. Instead, I'm going to spend the extra time working on my WIP since I know my blog will be quiet during April.

I'm currently planning my newest novel.

  16. My writing has been sporadic too. It's interesting how I write in spurts, sometimes it's all I can think about and others times is the last thing on my mind (well, not really. It's always there lurking in the corners). I'm doing the A-Z thing too. I've already written quite a few posts so I'm not way overwhelmed once April 1 arrives. Good luck still having ideas of what to post about during March. :)

    1. I think everything in life goes in cycles. We just have to learn to use them to our benefit. Write when we're on the high, focus on other things when we're not. That keeps us refreshed. Good luck with the A-Z!

  17. If, for some reason, you can't get to my email, leave a comment about it on my blog so I'll know that my email can't be accessed.

Speaking of A to Z and WIPs, I've been bouncing back and forth between the two- I'm preparing my posts for April and trying to finish my WIP too.

Isn't it great to fall in love with your characters and MS all over again?

    1. It is a great feeling.

Bouncing back and forth indeed. I'm only giving the A-Z a certain amount of time so I don't take time away from the WIP. If A-Z isn't as polished as I'd like that's okay. The WIP is more important.
