Happy Groundhog Day

Before I get to my regularly scheduled post there's still time to enter my give away HERE. It's open to everybody and I'll draw a winner tomorrow.

Happy Groundhog day!

The Engineer and I always liked to celebrate Groundhog Day.  It was an excuse to do something fun and out of the ordinary.  Plus, we could watch the movie.  At our first Groundhog Day in Georgia we had only been here three months.  Everyone looked at us like we were crazy when we wished them a happy Groundhog Day.  Some of the teenagers I talked to didn't even know what Groundhog Day was.  Shocking, I know.

We've now lived her six years and I know why nobody cares about this holiday. Because of this.

Yes, that's Truck Boy hunting a butterfly. Outside. On Feb 1. In short sleeves.  We don't need a groundhog to tell us if more winter is coming.  There can't be more winter since there was never winter to begin with.

Still, happy, Groundhog Day to everyone.  After all it's still an excuse to celebrate and do something fun.

  1. Groundhog day up here is a joke because 6 more weeks of winter is a definite, and it would actually be a miracle if winter ended six weeks from now, so yanno, it loses a little something with that ;-D

    1. Yes, it really only works in certain climates. Still, any chance to celebrate something. Growing up we had a cake on John Adams' birthday every year.

    1. No, you don't have winter in Vegas.

Just a random thought, my cousin went to dental school there.

  3. I'm so depressed now. I'm moving to Georgia. Or Vegas. Any place that doesn't do winter is fine with me. :)

  6. I heard robins have been spotted here in Ontario. They're not due for another month. This whole winter has been like the month of March. It's bizarre. But I'm liking it over the -30C and knee-deep snow.
