Blog Awards

I've been fortunate enough to receive several awards from bloggers lately.  I want to thank each of them for thinking of me.

Charlie over at Myself as Written gave me the Very Inspiring Blogger Award.

Mark, over at Left and Write and Elise both gave me the Liebster Award.

All of these awards have me telling random, yet interesting facts about myself and answering questions so I'm going to answer a mix of questions from the blogs and hope that some interesting facts happen to come through on the answers.

1 A 'crazy, wild-eyed, scientist pulls up in a shiny DeLorean and says he can take you anywhere in history. What do you tell him?

I'm torn on this one.  It would be crazy amazing to go visit so many places and times.  But I really like where I am and who I am right now. And I'm happy staying here.

2. A meteor is hurtling towards the planet and it looks like the 'end is nigh'. You have about 24 hours left. What do you do?

I would spend the whole day with family.  And since it wouldn't matter what I looked like the next day I would eat everything.  As much pizza and doughnuts as I could shove in my mouth.

3. A famous author asks you to ghost write their next book and offers you a ton of money to do so....as long as you sign a contract to never reveal the secret. Do you do it?

No.  I have enough trouble finding time to write my stories, the ones I'm crazy excited about. Unless my family is in dire financial straights. Then I'd get right to work on the ghost write.

4 Waking up one morning, you find the world has suddenly, and mysteriously, run out of coffee. What do you do?

Ha, since I don't drink coffee it wouldn't bother me one bit.  I would however steer clear of everyone who was addicted to the stuff because they're going to be CRANKY!

 5. Which cartoon....old or new...best describes your life?

There's an old MTV cartoon called DARIA which quite accurately sums up my teenage years.  To fit my life now?  Well, I'm not sure but the comic Baby Blues sometimes hits pretty close.

6 How long have you been writing?

All my life.  Writing seriously, studying the craft and researching publication?  Four years.

7 What is your ideal writing place?

Anywhere my kids aren't.  It would be nice to have a nice writing cabin with a desk and comfy chair, mini fridge, internet but I would want that to be in my own backyard, just a little bit away from the family so when I'm done I can join them instantly.

8 Would you self-publish or get representation for your next project?

I'm currently trying to get representation.  It's possible I may self publish in the future but it's not an option right now.  I don't have the time or resources to attempt it successfully and I'd really like to go the traditional rout.

9 Do your friends and family know you write or have you kept it a secret?

They know and they are so supportive.  My mom reads pretty much everything, offers suggestions, edits and is a great cheerleader.  I couldn't do this without her. Other friends and family have also read for me and all of them are encouraging.

10. Someone gives you a million dollars on the condition that you have to give half to someone else. Who do you choose?

I probably wouldn't give it all to the same person.  I'd spread it around to charities, families and friends.  Those people who are in a rough spot and just need a little help, or someone who has encountered some medical problems.  It would also be fun just to surprise people.  My husband and I have talked about how fun it would be to be able to spontaneously pay the restaurant bill of teenagers going to prom, or randomly pay for the groceries of a harried mom at the store.  Just brighten people's days.

So that's that.  Thanks again to mark, Elise and Charlie for these awards.  If you made it this far, go ahead and answer one of the questions in the comments section or tell me a little about yourself.
