Hi, my name is Sara

It's the Re-Introduce yourself blogfest today.

I thought this was a brilliant idea.  You know how in school you'd be sitting next to someone in class and over the year you'd start talking and become friends but you never find out their name?  Please tell me I'm not the only one that happened to.  Anyway, I thought this bogfest was a great idea for getting to know more about blogging friends so hopefully, down the road somewhere I don't get embarrassed by not knowing somethign about them that I should.  Like their name. Unfortunately I'm not cool or talented enough to do one of the video introductions (or even think about it) so I'm doing it the old fashioned way.  Here you go.

My name is Sara.  I go by my initials S.P. because if you google Sara Bowers there are waaaaayyyyy to many.  Including but not limited to a playboy bunny, another author, and a character in a series. Googling S.P.Bowers was much nicer so I thought that might make for a better author name.  But, I'll answer to pretty much anything.

You can tell a lot about someone by how they spend their money.  So to introduce myself I’ll be answering this question.   If you sold your current novel for rock star money, how would you spend it?

On a new dishwasher!  Seriously.  And yes, I do have a pile of dirty dishes larger than both my kids, why do you ask?

I’d buy a lot of books. Take The Engineer out to a very nice dinner where he can eat all the seafood and sushi and icky things he wants.  Then I’d pay off the mortgage and finish the basement.

Yea, as you can tell I’m a pretty boring person.

And there you have it.

What would you buy?

  2. Oh my gosh. I've been guilty of that on multiple occasions - realize I've been friendly with someone so long I'm embarrassed to ask their name. *blush* I'm a visually-oriented person and I'll remember your face 'til the day I die, but dang if I can remember names!

I guess I'm a boring person, too. I'd pay off bills, fix stuff, and live a little just like you. ;)

    1. Sounds good to me!

I'm not good with names either.

  3. So that's what the S stands for. :D

Nothing would change for us, except we would get a new stove. But we have to get that anyway. We just have to get around to buying it. A rock star book deal wouldn't rush that. If anything, it would slow it down more because of impending deadlines. :P

    1. I thought some people might not know. :)

Very true about the deadlines. I have to admit I wouldn't last too long without a stove but hubby and I do the same thing. If we need something like that we take it slow, research brands and performances and make sure we're getting what we want.

  4. I think I'd want to travel more. And yes, it's happened to me as well. I've become acquainted with some really nice people through my running club, but I'm embarrassed to say I still don't know their names and we see each other at least 2x a week! I'm so bad with names. I can't even remember Mark K..p.mans or something's name, (; I'm sure it took me forever to realize your name was Sara. Nice to re-meet you. (:

  5. Hi Sara, nice to meet you (again). ;) We think alike. Paying off the mortgage would be top of my list as well. And yikes! I can't imagine life without my dishwasher.

  6. Good to know a bit more about you. I'd definitely buy a dishwasher. I still remember when I first got one in an apartment I rented. I couldn't live without it afterwards.

  7. Sara - It's always nice to learn more about a blogging buddy. ^_^ I'd spiff up my basement (studio) too!

  8. I've had to remember too many names in my time as a high school teacher and now I'm coated with Teflon. They seem to slide off unless I know the person for a long time. I _knew_ it was Sara. ; )

Most people remember _my_ name! And usually they ask how I got it and that's a funny story, but I won't repeat it here.

If I sold a book, I'd hire 24-hour help to care for my MIL and my hubby and I would go on a looooong delayed vacation. And some nice clothes would be nice.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You and hubby deserve that vacation. Here's hoping you can get that help.

  9. Your rock-star advance plans sound similar to mine, S.P. I'd redo the landscaping around our little house. It's overdo for some more-than-surface upkeep. We *really* need to restucco the adobe exterior.

  10. NOT at ALL, Sara,

You are refreshingly real.... Sorry about all those dishes. TIme to introduce the kids to the sink and dishwashing soap .... LOL.... that is if they are old enough.

My mom was a working mother, so we kids did it all from an early age. I am thankful for that.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. At 2 and 3 years they're still a little short for the sink. However, they do wash windows, sweep, vacuum and clean cabinet doors. Their favorite thing however is to get a shovel and dig. I'm a huge fan of teaching them to work from an early age.

  11. Hmmm, if it were reeeeeeally a lot of money, I'd pay off our kids' mortgages. And then set up college accounts for all of the grandchildren.

Very cool that you're a ham. Did you attend any local club meetings or hamfests? If so, we may have met. I was the GA section manager for the ARRL for almost a decade, and visited LOTS of clubs, and gave LOTS of talks, etc. It'd really be cool if we already met...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. We haven't, sorry. I really haven't done anything with it since we moved to GA seven years ago. I did join some clubs and groups before that though. When I joined the club at my university they were astounded. I don't think they'd ever had a girl join before.

  12. I would totally buy a new dishwasher! Actually, if truth be told, I would buy a refrigerator that MAKES ICE because I think that is the ultimate in appliance porn.
OK, so maybe I'd get an inground swimming pool, too. And a new front door. And a new kitchen. And maybe a motorcycle. And.... is there still money for this? It would have to be a really, really good book...

    1. Lol, appliance porn! I want one of those fridges with the freezer on the bottom. And a pool does sound nice...

  13. Hi S.P., nice to re-meet you. I think I'd use my initials too. I wouldn't want anyone confusing me with a playboy bunny. Yes, this is a fun blog hop. What would I do with a rock star money from my book??? Easy, take the whole family on the longest cruise I could find. We all love being on the ocean. Great post!

    ReplyDelete

    1. No that they would confuse us if they ever saw my picture.....

A cruise would be fun. And I love that your plans include your whole family!

  14. Hi, Sara! Nice to meet you! I guess I'm boring too, cause I'd pay off my mortgage, cars, and turn my attic into an extra bedroom. And you're not alone, you just gave me a flashback of high school. There were so many people I talked to, but can't remember their names. Oh well, I'll remember yours. :)

  15. Hey Sara, very nice to meet you. You don't sound boring at all...there's -nothing- boring in being practical :)

If I sold my book and got rock star money, I'd buy some land and put a little log cabin on it. I'd have a garden and a few animals and live off the land...oh and I'd make sure I had internet access :)

I'd also buy tons of books... of course!

  21. Nothing wrong with practical, especially a dishwasher. It gives you all the more time to write. :-) But this comes from a person who spent her Christmas money on a new sauce pan. I have a pretty expensive set of pots and pans but can't spend just 'regular' money on them. So my gift money it was.

And thinking practical isn't boring! You've got your head screwed on right. A new tumbledryer would be high on our list because ours breaks down all the time. And four kids plus the Scottish weather means it gets used on an almost constant basis.
