There is danger in the word ‘someday’. Someday I’ll work on this goal. Someday I’ll
accomplish my dreams.
Someday is vague and nebulous. Someday may never come.
Choose to start today.
Whether it’s that rewrite you’re contemplating, the blank
paper waiting, the friends you could find, the promotion you want. Someday won’t
be soon enough, what can you do today?
There are times when something must wait for that ambiguous ‘someday’,
but only because there is a more pressing ‘today’ to live.
Find your someday, and make it today. You won’t be sorry.
Excellent post. Grab today and make it the very best you can.
ReplyDeleteNice! I'll find my someday...in the long run.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you will. You already are if you're working towards it, not wasting the todays that pass by so quickly.
DeleteI agree with you. Things only really started happening in my life when I started to actively go after my goals. :-)
ReplyDeleteNothings going to happen if we don't do it.
DeleteSo true. And I need to do this. And I agree with Misha that we have to go after our goals.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this! I used to say that someday I would write a book. I did eventually but there was always something in the way until I finally said I'm going to start writing a book TODAY.
ReplyDeleteExactly what I was doing. Then I realized I was getting old and I needed to do it now.
DeleteCouldn't agree more! Even if we are moving with baby steps, it's important to keep moving forward! Great message!
ReplyDeleteYep, someday will never come, but today is doable.
ReplyDeleteSometimes today is all we can make it through. but if we take each day as it comes we may end up somewhere at that elusive 'someday'.
DeleteGreat reminder! *Today* I'll work on the underlying layers of one of my main characters. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHope it goes well!
DeleteSomeday ... the procrastinator's word of choice. Less demanding than "tomorrow." :)
ReplyDeleteExcellent advice. I'm a fan of "seize the day" as well. If you want something bad enough, you have to start planning for and working toward it. Otherwise you don't really want it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone here, GREAT advice. I think I'll remove "someday" from my vocabulary, at least in reference to me and my actions. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I have definitely been adopting this approach in my life of late -- I have been hurling myself into writing music with a vengeance. Now, my big concern has become that I'm focusing all my energy on "long-term" projects (such as completing a musical piece that, hopefully, will eventually turn into something) rather than appreciating what's available in this moment. I think the trick is to ignore concerns like that. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, it's a bit of a wishy-washy word which implies you're not that passionate about what you want to do. Someday is something that can keep getting put off.
ReplyDeleteI heartily agree.
ReplyDeleteTOTALLY agree. It's too easy to use the word "someday" or "tomorrow" or "a little later". Way too easy. We only have the here and now :)
ReplyDeleteOh, by the way--just because you're gone on vacation (but not really), I nominated you for an award. =)

Hope you're having a lovely summer :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's SO true. I think this is one of the hardest things for us to conquer. Learning to act NOW without fear. We just have to DO IT. Spot on, Sara. Spot on. (And motivating!!!!)
ReplyDeleteAnd I see above that you're out for a few weeks! Have a lovely break. You're so wonderful! :)
