Every year our Friends of the Library group does a HUGE book sale. I always make sure that I have the opening date cleared way in advance.
When we entered the warehouse we looked one way and saw this
And the other way and saw this.
It was a small year. Not near as many books as usual, still one can't help but get excited in a warehouse full of books.
Seriously, if you live in or around Macon Georgia (I loose the term 'around' loosely. This is worth traveling for) you may want to start making plans for dropping in next year.
It doesn't look small, so other years must be huge! What a fun experience.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I love my Kindle, but I miss the excitement of buying books the old-fashioned way!
ReplyDeleteI love my kindle too, and I actually prefer to buy there since I have no more bookshelves left and the books I just bought are on boxes and the floor in my bedroom corner. Still, the excitement of a sale like that is exhilarating.
DeleteSounds so fun. I bet the weather made it feel smaller.
ReplyDeleteWe were there on Friday and Sunday, I wonder if we inadvertently crossed paths!
ReplyDeleteI was only there on Thursday. :(
DeleteJealous! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's fun. It will be much more fun next year when both kids are in school so I don't have to worry about short attention spans or potty breaks.
DeleteOur library holds a sale like this too. I try to volunteer every year so I can get there early and help cart out the books. You should see all us volunteers! We are putting out books and scrounging through them like little hoarders, putting our piles of books together. It's so much fun!!
ReplyDeleteI've thought about volunteering but can't at this point in my life. Someday. How much fun it would be.
DeleteWe have Friends of the Library where I live and I donate my used books to them. That is, until I bought my eReaders.
ReplyDeleteOooh, give me a paperback... you can hug and cuddle up with it!
ReplyDeleteAnd btw Happy World Read Aloud Day!

I must live in a cave because that looks like plenty of books to me. So many books, so little time.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh!! I would've loved to have been there!
ReplyDeleteOh, that would be a bad, bad place for me to go. So much money would disappear from my bank.
ReplyDeleteCuriously enough, Macon was the "half way point" for my wife and I when we first thought about meeting, face to face.....it's about eight hours from where I live now and where I lived then.
ReplyDeleteSounds like that, coupled with the booksale, could make for a fun road trip. Hmmmm....
Love, love, love, library book sales. Ours is always held in July on the library's front lawn under huge tents. Hope you found lots of good stuff!
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun. I am sure you never know what you will find.
ReplyDeleteif I go can we hang out and eat large quantities of sushi?? I love sushi

ReplyDeleteI love book sales, whether they're a library book sale or a bookstore clearance. When there's the prospect of me bringing home a stack of books that I can quickly pay for, I get as excited as a kid in a candy store.
ReplyDeleteGood Lord, woman!!! That's a GIGANTIC book sale and you said it was smaller than last year... wow (Falls down, dust rises)
ReplyDeleteI get excited at our base library sale and that's six long shelves in a small room!!!
Thanks for the kind words, by the way, re IWSG... you win my latest bottle of Awesome Sauce :)
Wow! A warehouse filled with books... on SALE! Sounds like Heaven. Goodwill hosts the largest book sale in the Atlanta area, but I haven't been to it in several years.
ReplyDeleteOh, my! want to be sooo there!
ReplyDeleteNas
This looks awesome! There's nothing better than browsing a library book sale. Our library has a big sale in the middle of Summer and I always make sure I have the day off.
ReplyDeleteThat's a small year?? It looks great to me!
