Sacrifice

My goal for the month is to finish my current round of revisions before I go on vacation in three weeks.  The reasoning behind this is so I can set the manuscript aside for the two weeks we'll be gone and not worry about where I was and how I was going to fix that (insert major flaw here).

I don't know if this goal is possible but I'm going to try anyway, which means I need to focus and not get distracted.  Yea, I know, next to impossible.  In all honesty I believe I can do it.  I finished NaNo by thanksgiving and I took every Sunday off.  But I do need to focus, which is why I made the goal.  I work better if I have a deadline.

It's all about organization.  I don't really watch tv.  My reading is already limited to while doing other things (eating, dressing, brushing teeth, doing hair, cooking etc)  I hardly clean my house or play computer games.  Those are some of the things I have given up to write.  And it's worth it.   My question to you is, when you have some serious writing to do, what do you give up to do it?

  1. Whatever it is, never give up your sleep, this is where your inspirations come from.

  2. I agree, I can't think, let alone get into my character's lives, if I'm tired.

  3. Good luck! I'm just trying to clear the needed scenes from page one of my rough outline. FWIW, there's only four major ones left to go. We won't talk about what's left on page two...sigh.

  4. There's always more to do, if we look at everything that needs to be done we would all be too overwhelmed to do anything. All we can focus on is what's in front of us, take it one page at a time. Good luck with your scenes.

  5. Just about everything except sleep and my daily bicycle ride.

  6. I agree. Both of those things actually help writing so why cut them out?
